Here is a documentary by filmmaker Larry Benaquist about the life and death of Jonathan Myrick Daniels, a young Episcopal seminarian from New Hampshire who was murdered by a deputy sheriff in Lowndes County, Alabama on August 20, 1965. He had been released from jail just moments before, following his arrest during a nonviolent civil rights demonstration. I was working with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference’s SCOPE Project in Sussex County, Virginia, at the time of his death.
