Course Description: It was the fall of 1964 when college freshman Lanny Kaufer – imbued with a topical mix of confidence and naiveté – found himself in the rural, segregated South, striving to register African-Americans to vote. Join Kaufer as he tells firsthand about his experience with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s SCOPE Project – a voter registration civil rights initiative. Follow the “soundtrack” of the era as you learn more about the goals and accomplishments of the project in this multimedia presentation.
